Despite a severe climate and, apparently, the conditions unsuitable for cultivation of grapes, the winemaking in Germany was introduced still by Romans, having extended it to all region. Here make basically white wines. In the sixties last century manufacturers have concentrated the attention to mass manufacturing of wine for export. Sweet and semisweet wines, being inexpensive, have got popularity among consumers of England and the USA. But struggle for mass commodity markets has damped reputation to German wine makers. Wine makers of Germany in the course of drink manufacture are compelled to solve a significant amount of problems. It is connected, first of all, with a geographical position of Germany. Here a cool climate because of which grapes are sated with acid.

German classification of wines differs from French, accepted in more parts of Europe. Under the law of 1971 the country is divided on 13 wine regions, each of which is divided into districts Bereich, then these districts share on Grosslage - some vineyards similar on productivity.
